Floral Expression going green27 July 2018 We're going green but not in the floral sense! This picture from National Geographic has inspired us to make some small changes to reduce our use of plastics in the shop. The effect plastic is having on our planet and wildlife is devastating and we should all be doing something, however small to change the impact we're having on the world. Although we can't completely stop using cellphane we are dramatically reducing the amount we use. We have now sourced an Eco Wrap which is biodegradable, compostable and completely recyclable. When we do have to use cellophane the type we use is recyclable and can be put into any recycling bin. Both of these fantastic products are from a local company called Widdups. We've stopped using plastic card forks and use either wooden peg picks or recyclable stickers to attach cards to orders. Our picks come from Holstens and our stickers are from The Paper Studio. We've stopped supplying plastic carrier bags and offer brown paper bags instead. We no longer use plastic envelopes for cards and have changed the way we use our bins. We now have two bins, one for general waste and one for recyclable material. We recycle everything we possibly can. We're also beginning to phase out Oasis and will shortly be bringing in Biodegradable Oasis which degrades much, much quicker than standard Oasis. We've recently posted a video which you can find on our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/floralexpressionleeds/ explaining the changes we're making.
